Rustic Road 48

Cruising through Southeast Wisconsin’s Waushara County, Rustic Road 48 follows 26th Road from County H northwest to County W, where it links up with R-117.
This easy 2.1-mile paved stretch winds through rolling hills shaped by ancient glaciers, right in the heart of Wisconsin’s central plains. The road dips into the Pine River valley, home to a crystal-clear Class I trout stream. Along the way, you’ll vibe with the wide-open farmland, fallow fields, and the wildlife they attract—ring-necked pheasants, sandhill cranes, deer, red foxes, beavers, otters, and a chorus of songbirds.
Keep your eyes peeled for old-school history too, with a log cabin and two pre-Civil War farmhouses built under the Homestead Act.
