Rustic Road 44

Tucked away in Marinette County, Right of Way Road (R-44) runs for 6.5 miles of smooth paved cruising, stretching from Sumac Lane to County X, with a side branch dipping down toward the Porterfield Lake town line.
This chill route crosses a couple of peaceful creeks and hugs the edges of the Lake Noquebay State Wildlife Area and Marinette County Forest — perfect for spotting wildlife or sneaking in a nature break.
And for a little mind trip, this road used to be part of the old Wisconsin-Michigan Railroad, according to the Loomis Historical Society. So light up your curiosity and roll down this historic, tree-lined ride.
