Rustic Road 113

If you’re looking to get high — literally and maybe otherwise — Rustic Road 113 in Northeast Wisconsin’s Oconto County is a must. This 9.4-mile paved stretch winds along Old 32 Road between County W and County F, cutting through the heart of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Surrounded by thick woods, it’s a vibey cruise full of wildlife and birdsong.

But the real highlight? The Mountain Fire Lookout Tower, built in 1934 and still standing tall — the only one left in the area. Climb up for some elevated views that hit different, especially in fall. Plus, R-113 connects you to the Nicolet State Trail and cross-country ski trails if you want to keep the adventure going.
