The Milwaukee Public Museum is a vibrant time machine sprawling over three immersive floors. Inside, you’ll roam through global ecosystems—from a tropical rainforest alive with free-flying butterflies in a 76°F garden to Europe, the Arctic, Costa Rica, the Pacific Islands, and more. History buffs can wander the streets of Old Milwaukee and Europe, while paleontology fans can gape at the world’s largest-known dinosaur skull and a life-size T. rex replica. The museum also boasts the state’s first dome theater and houses over four million artifacts. Founded in 1882, its rich dioramas pioneered a signature “Milwaukee style” museum experience.

We’re excited to announce that Milwaukee Public Museum will remain open for all of 2026, giving MPM fans near and far an entire year to make memories in our current building! This will be the Museum’s final full year in this location before moving to our new home, the Nature & Culture Museum of Wisconsin. The last day of operation at our current location will be January 3, 2027.

As a final send-off to the Museum we all love, beginning in January 2026, we’ll be kicking off a year-long celebration called Greatest Hits, which will commemorate MPM’s most iconic and beloved exhibits. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy exciting theme days, after-hours adult events, guest lectures, hands-on activities, exclusive merch drops, and so much more! Greatest Hits is all about experiencing the magic of MPM, we hope you’ll join the celebration.
