Green Bay West Shores Wildlife Area

The Green Bay West Shores Wildlife Area stretches along Green Bay’s west shore, rich in history from Native American use to French, British, and American settlements. Once home to lumber mills, commercial fishing, and farming, the area now focuses on conservation.
State land acquisition began in 1948, expanding over time to include several units. Today, it’s managed for wildlife habitat and recreation, supporting waterfowl, migratory birds, and forest game.
Parts of the area also protect vital fish spawning grounds, especially for northern pike, helping preserve essential wetland and fishery habitats connected to the bay.
