Place Category: Wildlife Areas & Refuges
The Dunnville Wildlife Area, also known as the “Dunnville Bottoms,” spans 4,200 acres between Menomonie and Durand, bordered by the Chippewa River. Accessible from multiple parking areas and by boat, the landscape features sandy riverbanks, floodplain forests, and backwater sloughs.
Inland, visitors will find prairies, oak savannas, and steep hardwood-covered hills. A plateau atop the hills is home to mixed hardwoods, jack pine barrens, and a red pine plantation. Nearly 900 acres are managed as prairie or savanna, including 200 acres of untouched native remnants.
