Bill Cross Wildlife Area

Bill Cross Wildlife Area spans 1,522 acres in Lincoln County, offering a rugged, mostly undeveloped landscape along 3.75 miles of Wisconsin River frontage. Purchased in 1997 from Wisconsin Public Service, the property is divided by 2.5 miles of the river, with steep east-facing banks dropping 100 feet to the water’s edge.
Dominated by aspen and northern hardwood forests, the area also features pine plantations and scattered kettle wetlands west of the river. Wetlands range from open water to forested and emergent types. Located eight miles northwest of Merrill, access is available via Highway 107 on the east and Tesch Road on the west.
