Chief Highknocker Statue Ribbon Cutting
As a gift to the community, George W. King (February 18, 1941 — March 24, 2025) has commissioned a statue of Green Lake’s last Indian chief, Henaga (Highknocker). It will be placed just west of the parking lot at Hattie Sherwood campground.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will be on Saturday Oct 1st, 2025 at 11am.
George King was a relative of The Stoner’s Travel Guide family and he will be deeply missed by not only us, but his entire community.
Part of the inspiration for some content in the book The Stoner’s Travel Guide to Wisconsin came from our time with George and of course, some of the legend and lore about the grave of Chief Highknocker at the haunted Dartford Cemetery.
