Rustic Road 18

Tucked away in Barron County is Rustic Road 18. Just a short cruise from Cameron and Rice Lake, this 6.8-mile stretch along 23rd Street, 15¾ Avenue, 25th Street, and 17¼ Avenue forms a laid-back loop off County M. The road is paved, but don’t let that fool you—it’s narrow, winding, and cuts through dense stands of white oak, aspen, and birch, making it feel like a hidden passage through the woods.

The high grassy edges are prime territory for deer and other wildlife, so take it slow and stay alert. This isn’t the place to speed—it’s a route meant for soaking in the sights, rolling the windows down, and letting the northern Wisconsin air do its thing.
