Rustic Road 83

Tucked away in the unpaved beauty of Northwest Wisconsin’s Barron County, Rustic Road 83 stretches for 4.6 miles along 13 3/4-16th Street, also known as Narrow Gauge Road, between County V and 30th Street at the Barron and Washburn county line.
From start to finish, this rugged route embraces its natural state, delivering an off-the-beaten-path experience that’s perfect for stoners craving a deeper connection with the land. Located in the town of Bear Lake, the road gets its name from the narrow gauge railroad that once ran through the area during Wisconsin’s logging era.
Today, the old rail line has been reclaimed by nature, winding through the heart of the 4,100-acre Barron County Forest. Along the way, travelers will encounter a blend of native wildlife and vegetation, and even cross paths with the famed Ice Age Trail. With its wild and wooded terrain, R-83 offers a low-key, high-vibe journey through the raw, untouched side of Wisconsin’s northwoods.
