Rustic Road 31

Located in Southwest Wisconsin’s La Crosse County, Rustic Road 31 winds 2.6 paved miles through the streets of West Salem and around Swarthout Lakeside Park near Lake Neshonoc—a chill spot to relax and take in the view.
History buffs (and stoners who love a good story) will dig the Palmer-Gullickson Octagon House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the Hamlin Garland Homestead, where the Pulitzer Prize-winning author once wrote.
You’ll also pass the former home of Thomas Leonard, the town’s founder. A short, scenic loop perfect for a mellow cruise with plenty of cool stops along the way.
