Willow River Wildlife Area

Willow River Wildlife Area spans 808 acres in western St. Croix County, offering a tranquil mix of restored prairie, oak savanna, and pine plantations. Situated about 3 miles east of Burkhardt, this area is part of the Western Prairie Habitat Restoration Area and neighbors a 283-acre U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Waterfowl Production Area, enhancing its appeal for upland game.
Visitors can enjoy activities like birding, canoeing, fishing, hunting, and wildlife viewing. While there are no designated trails, the open landscapes are ideal for exploration.
Parking is available off County Highway E, 103rd Street, and 100th Street.
Note: There are no restrooms or camping facilities on-site.
