The Wiouwash State Trail

The Wiouwash State Trail—yeah, that name’s a mashup of Winnebago, Outagamie, Waupaca, and Shawano counties—is a laid-back rail-to-trail route perfect for mellow adventures. Built on an old train line, it’s now managed by the four counties it rolls through.
There are two separate stretches with about a 30-mile gap in between, so plan your cruise accordingly. The northern leg runs 19 miles through Shawano County between Birnamwood and Split Rock, while the southern segment takes you 22 miles from Hortonville to Oshkosh.
Whether you’re biking, hiking, or just wandering, this trail’s got small-town charm, smooth vibes, and plenty of room to roam.
