Star Lake Nature Trail

Nestled in the Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest, the Star Lake Nature Trail offers stunning views of the horseshoe-shaped, 1,200-acre Star Lake. This scenic peninsula trail features a one-mile Blue Loop with interpretive signs on the area’s natural history and a 2.04-mile Red Loop that hugs the shoreline. Open for hiking in warmer months and snowshoeing in winter, the trail remains ungroomed for a more rugged experience.

No fees are required, but pets and bikes aren’t allowed.

The trailhead and parking area can be found at the end of Statehouse Road near West Star Lake Campground.
