Rustic Road 108

R-108 winds through the Sawyer County Forest, following Northern Lights, Boedecker, Seely, and Janet roads from WIS 63 to County OO in the towns of Lenroot and Spider Lake.
This 3.4-mile stretch, with both paved and unpaved portions, is lined with towering maples, oaks, birch, and pines, providing a haven for birds and wildlife.
Originally built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps as a logging road, it still holds remnants of its past, including the old “Dynamite Shack” used for blasting through the hills.
Crossed by the Birkie ski trail and multiple ATV, mountain bike, and snowmobile trails, R-108 offers a true Northwoods experience. R-125 is just half a mile to the east.
