Old Darien Hemp Mill

Darien: Immediately north of interstate 43 on west side of highway 14. Now Walworth Foundries, Inc.
Darien, Wisconsin, was the site of a hemp mill built by the U.S. government during World War II to produce fiber for the war effort, particularly for rope for the Navy. After the war, the mill was sold in 1947 to a foundry and no longer operates as a hemp processing facility.
